Zoo Brazil, like many of the greats, represent House music. They love it, whether it’s deep, electro, acid, tech, jackin or soulful, Emmoth and Andersson do it all with aplomb. They’re widely regarded as masters of the dancefloor but with this album they delve deeper into their musical tastes and have delivered 12 tracks of glorious Tech-Soul.
As the driving force over the years John Andersson is credited with over 70 released singles under various alias’s including Laid, Cuba Computers, Nars, the Kelly Project, The Wiggs, Outcold and of course Zoo Brazil with Johan Emmoth. Having started producing in the late 90’s, John’s racked up an impressive list of labels to work with, including such greats as Get Physical, Systematic, Harthouse, Hooj Choons, Strictly Rhythm, Skint, Music For Freaks, Ministry and many more.
Having played a large part in convincing the legendary techno label Harthouse re-launch, Zoo Brazil’s previous two albums were released through Harthouse Mannheim and deservedly received great support. Which is why Gung Ho, the label from Matt Stuart (former label manager of Underwater) have pulled off a rather impressive coup to sign two of dance music’s true characters, ‘No Place Like Home’ really stands out from the crowd. In Matt’s on words “I’m delighted to welcome John and Johan into the Gung Ho family, I’ve been a big fan of their music since I first heard them at the start of the decade. Zoo Brazil are exactly the type of act I want on my label, it’s 110% electronic soul. They’ve really delivered the goods!”
‘No Place Like Home’ has everything a fan of the electronic beat could ever want. From the haunting melancholic atmosphere of ‘Oh My‘ showing the duo’s trippier side to the disco elements and soothing synth melodies of ‘Shadow Dance’ and ‘Anakonda’, that both have a clear nod in the direction of their Get Physical friends Booka Shade. Two real beauties that manage to encapsulate that special feeling of sunshine. And then we have the tracks for the dancefloor, ‘Sputnik’, ‘Back To Back’ and ‘Professional Panda’ are wonky tech workouts, strictly for dark rooms at 4am and the first single ‘Technik’ is pure dancefloor gold, without doubt a huge track for the summer. A monster that has already become the biggest record the duo have made with 5 radio one plays to date with key support coming from Pete Tong and Kissy Sell Out. 3 more single will follow.
’No Place Like Home’, guiding you all the way from the pool to the dancefloor to the afterparty.
