Focussing on the heyday of British Street Soul from the 80s and early 90s, “UK Soul Party” commences with “Lovin’ You” the UK smash hit single from 1991 by Massivo featuring Tracy and continues its journey with all the top selling 12”s on Debut, Mission, and E-Zee Records from the period. Serenade were the UK’s first UK all girl r&b group before Eternal. Gems For Jem featured Tracy on their two street classics for Debut before their chart dance hit with “Lifting Me Higher”.
Zaues were a soul group before becoming The Jazz Steppers and winning a MOBO Award. Both Zushii tracks are street soul classics, and Keni Stevens was one of the most important UK male vocalists of the decade with two albums on the label. Many of the other songs are street soul interpretations of classic songs like “Someday We’ll All Be Free”, “Piano In The Dark”, “When Love Calls” and “Ain’t Nobody at a time the Soul II Soul groove ruled the dancefloors before hip hop.
