Roman Fluegel and Joern Elling Wuttke came together as a production team in the late `80`s after both collecting valuable music experience from previously being in various bands. In 1993, together with the Djs Ata Macias and Heiko Schäfer they established Klang Elektronik, together with two other labels Ongaku and Playhouse.
They released several maxi singles and an album under the pseudonym Acid Jesus before changing their name to Alter Ego. The following year they founded Sensorama as an outlet for their more ambient tracks.
The first Alter Ego appeared in 1994 on Sven Vaths’ Harthouse label, which was at that time, one of the most pioneering labels from Germany. The impact of this LP on the British music scene was headlined by remixes from Black Dog, Luke Slater and David Holmes.
Since then the plaudits have been rolling in, and in 2004 they were the men responsible for what many DJs / producers and dance music lovers class as the standout dance track of the year in “Rocker”. A brilliant rock inspired crossover track that found it’s way into the record boxes of house and techno DJs. It was sub-licensed all over the world and with the help of Skint in the UK, saw its way to No. 32 in the British Singles chart.
The label is about quality electronic music, and if that’s your boat, its one label you do not want to take your eye off.
