Formed in 2000 by lounge hop kings Skeewiff, jalapeno Records has gone on to become one of the best known funk breaks labels in the world.

Label originators Skeewiff still form the core of the label having released three albums (two as Skeewiff and one under their IKON alter ego) but that has started to change with a worldwide funk family coming together on the label.

The current label hotshots are Holland’s Kraak & Smaak whose debut album Boogie Angst is setting funk floors alight around the world and causing a bit of a stir on the Nation’s airwaves with big support from Annie’s Mac and Nightingale, Pete Tong and Blue Room on Radio 1.

The International conection doesn’t stop there with Australia’s Resin Dogs stepping up to the fray with their dub breaks outing “She’s Gone”. Maelstrom & Napz from France have dropped their Spell It EP on the label, D’ Stephanie from Belgium has contributed party breaks classic “Rock the disco” and let’s not forget our stateside brothers Fort Knox Five with whom Jalapeno have just completed an album of lost classics “The Raid”

Next up after The raid is the new single from Kraak & Smaak “One of These days” with mixes from FK5 , Mark Rae and Balearic Soul followed by Skeewiff’s third album in the new year.
